Abstract:

Hydrological models are simplified representation of the real basin system, which helps to assess basin function in response to different inputs and better understanding of hydrological processes. The HEC-HMS model is one of the most important hydrological models for Flood estimating volumes and discharge in watersheds. In this research, the HEC-HMS hydrologic model was used to simulate the runoff flow in the Sarbaz river basin in Sistan and Baluchestan province. For this, basin and sub-basins models were prepared using the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) map and using Arc Hydro and HEC-geo HMS extensions. Next, through integration of land use maps and soil hydrologic groups in the Arc GIS, the curve number map for the studied basin was obtained. The results suggest that this basin has low permeability and high runoff volume. The results showed that there is a good consistency between observed and simulated hydrographs at the basin outlet and values of model efficiency index at the validation stage with Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency and were 0.90 and 16.37respectively which indicates the high efficiency of the model in estimating peak flow in basins and sub-basins. Also, according to the results, in this basin, as returns period increases, the runoff volume and basin discharge will be increased.

Spatial Analysis of Flood Hazard in Nirchay River Basin Using HEC-HMS Model and and fuzzy logic

Floods are one of the most abundant and destructive natural disasters that every year are caused heavy losses of life and property. Due to human activity in river systems and construction in rivers, flood damage has an upward trend. One of the most important actions to reduce flood damage is the provision of flood hazard zoning maps and their use in spatial planning. In this study, the risk of ...

Simulation of Design Flood Hydrographs in Aydooghmush Basin with HEC-HMS Model

Hydrological models for evaluating and predicting the amount of available water in basins, flood frequency analysis, and developing strategies to deal with destructive floods are expanding daily. In this study, HEC-GeoHMS and Arc Hydro extensions in ArcGIS software and the HEC-HMS model were used to simulate design flood hydrographs in the Aydooghmush basin in the northwest of Iran. SCS-CN, SCS...

On the Clark Unit Hydrograph Model of HEC-HMS

A mathematically correct form of the linear storage element’s routing equation is specified requiring only a slight modification of the existing HEC-HMS routine. The new formulation, unlike the current version in use, is unconditionally stable as long as the time step and the storage coefficient values are trivially specified as positive numbers.

Impact of Watershed Management activities on flood hydrograph Using HEC-HMS Model (Case Study: Ramyan Watershed)

Increasing the use of water and soil resources in watershed in recent years and unproductive and inappropriate use of land ecology has exacerbated the occurrence of floods. In this context, watershed management is one of the most effective ways to cope with this crisis. This research quantify the results of these activities by calculating the decreased volume and discharge due to biomechanical ...

Investigating the Effect of Rainfall Spatial Distribution on Flood in Bakhtiari Dam Basin Using HEC-HMS

The disparate spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall in the country and climate variation sometimes leads to rivers flooding and large flood events, which are remarkable for life and financial losses. Flood control design requires accurate knowledge of the flood generator basin, especially smaller ones, in large basins. Determining the potential of flood generation to specify the...

Cancer epidemiology and trends in Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iran

BACKGROUND Cancer is the second leading cause of death in developing countries. In Iran, cancer is the third cause of death. The present study aimed at providing the incidence rates (crude and agestandardized) of different types of cancers in Sistan and Baluchestan province (Southeastern of Iran). METHODS Data were collected retrospectively reviewing all new cancer patients registered in Canc...
